The room was abuzz as our fellow girl geeks devoured mini pot pies, pesto-stuffed mushrooms and caramel apples and toasted one another with Monk-itos (a signature SurveyMonkey cocktail), while they networked and swapped stories. However, the crowd immediately quieted when our panel of speakers took to the stage and explained what life was like at the Monkey. With speakers from our engineering, product, business development and business intelligence teams, the audience learned about just what makes SurveyMonkey tick.
However, the truly special part of the evening was when the Q&A with the audience began, and the speakers really began connecting with the audience. As Selina Tobaccowala–our senior VP of Product & Engineering–commented, “before you even think about building a start-up, you have to love your product because you will be thinking about it day and night.” To further prove this point, our senior product manager revealed that she used SurveyMonkey to collect RSVPs for her very own wedding. Talk about a couple diehard Monkeys.
After these informative and inspiring talks, it was time to let loose and socialize. It was a great time to get to know the hundred-plus girl geeks–who flocked to our SurveyMonkey photo booth. Let’s just say with boas, sunglasses, and yes, banana costumes on, there is a reason why we call ourselves girl geeks.
