Yesterday, a whole bunch of us monkeys headed over to the San Francisco Zoo to help out some of our fellow primates–lemurs! Our lovely Madagascan lemur friends make their home at the Lipman Family Lemur Forest, the country’s largest outdoor lemur habitat. Huge, beautiful trees are dotted throughout the habitat giving the lemurs plenty of space to climb and jump from treetop to treetop.
Along one side of the habitat is a moat for the lemurs to enjoy and that’s where we monkeys came in. Twice a year, the moat must be thoroughly cleaned–that means raking and shoveling out all of the mud, leaves and twigs that collect up over time.
Next, the entire moat gets a super power wash with a high pressure hose and then is treated with a special cleaning solution. Refilling the entire moat takes a whopping four hours!
As you can see, we monkeys love nothing better than gettin’ muddy and hangin’ together as a team to help out our lemur pals.
We want to thank the wonderful, hardworking folks at the San Francisco Zoo for all of the important work that they do and for inviting us to come by and give them a hand!

Will SurveyMonkey have a Bring Your Lemur To Work day?
Kayte K, Mar 4, 2013
Hi Michael! We wish but we’re afraid the lemurs would get too homesick.

I am so glad to hear you helped out the lemurs!
If your SurveyMonkey human primates are ever in Florida and want to help our more monkeys, come to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary for a volunteer day! We have 160 capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, marmosets and tamarins who were retired from research or entertainment, or were former pets.
Our monkeys are endlessly entertaining and need your help!
